How do I set up Aura Parental Controls?

Reminders:

  • Parental Controls are only available for children under 18 years old.
  • Aura secures information with military- grade encryption and uses it to default age-appropriate control filters.

Process Steps:

  1. Add your child to your Aura account.
  • You can add a child by downloading the Aura App and logging in with your Aura account credentials.
  • Tap on the family icon in the bottom navigation, then tap the “Add family member”.
  • In the upper right hand corner and “Add Child”. Enter the child’s first name, last name and their birthdate.

        2. Link your child’s device.

  • Make sure you have your child’s device in hand.
  • Once you have added your child to your Aura account in the app, tap on their icon at the top of the screen and visit their profile.
  • Tap on the Parental Controls card to show the QR code. Either use your child’s camera to scan the QR code or send a text link to your child’s device.
  • Download the Aura App via QR code or text link on your child’s device and opt in to push notifications as well as VPN.
  • Note: If you do not “Allow” VPN on your child’s device, Parental Controls will not be fully activated.

        3. What if I did not allow VPN on my child’s device during set up?

  • If you do not allow VPN, Parental Controls will not be fully set up on your child's device. The VPN allows Aura to supervise your child’s online content, usage and activity.
  • Unfortunately, there is no way to enable VPN after initial set up, you must delete the Aura App from your child’s device and re-link it using the steps above.

        4. What if I didn’t allow push notifications on my child’s device during setup?

  • If you did not allow push notification, your child will not receive notifications from Aura if their internet is paused or time limits are reached.
  • To enable these after initial set up, go to the device settings on your child’s device and open the Aura App Settings.
  • Go to Notifications and toggle on “Allow Notifications”.
